Alpha Mentoring Program - Uniting and Preparing (AMP-UP)
Alpha Mentoring Program-Uniting and Preparing (AMP-UP) is a mentoring program designed for middle and high school aged males in Jackson Public Schools (JPS). The program began in 2013 at Kirksey Middle School, as a small cultural enrichment and mentoring program. Today, the program has expanded to include all middle and high school students in the Jackson Public Schools (JPS) District. Through its growth and partnerships, AMP-UP now offers college scholarships, college tours, literacy development, and community service projects. The purpose of this mentoring program is to help young men develop into educated men, community leaders, critical thinkers, problem solvers, community servants, trailblazers, and advocates for social justice, equality, and equity. This distinctive and remarkable mentoring program is supported, sponsored, created, and managed by both college and alumni members of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated in Jackson, Mississippi.
